Sterling Silver Reliquary with the Sacred Relics of Saint Anne the Prophetess, with Episcopal Authentication, 1883

A rare and precious devotional object: a finely crafted sterling silver reliquary containing a significant relic ex ossibus (from the bones) of Saint Anne the Prophetess, revered in Christian tradition for her role in recognizing the Messiah in the Temple of Jerusalem (cf. Luke 2:36–38).

The reliquary, measuring 3.5 × 2.8 cm, is exquisitely decorated with repoussé floral motifs and houses the relic against a gold-threaded ground, identified by the original manuscript label S. Annae Proph. The relic is protected under its original glass cover. The reverse retains the intact red wax episcopal seal securing the relic in place.

Accompanied by its original episcopal authentication document, issued in 1883 by Philippus Fratellini, Bishop of Viterbo and Tuscania, confirming the sacred provenance of the relic.

This reliquary offers not only a profound connection to early Christian sanctity but also embodies fine 19th-century ecclesiastical craftsmanship, making it a treasure of both spiritual devotion and historical significance.
