Original Ecclesiastical Authentica, 1886

A remarkable antique reliquary containing first-class relics (ex ossibus) of three of the most celebrated ascetics of the ancient Christian East: Saint John of Egypt, Saint Simeon Stylites the Elder, and Saint Daniel the Stylite.

Saint John of Egypt, one of the great Desert Fathers of the 4th century, was renowned for his extraordinary life of solitude, prayer and spiritual discernment in the Egyptian desert.

Saint Simeon Stylites the Elder became the founder and most famous representative of the Stylite tradition, spending decades in prayer and asceticism upon a pillar in Syria. His example profoundly influenced Eastern monastic spirituality.

Saint Daniel the Stylite, inspired by Simeon, continued this extraordinary form of ascetic life near Constantinople and became one of the most revered spiritual figures of the 5th century.

The three substantial sacred relics are preserved together beneath glass in their original ecclesiastical arrangement. The reverse retains the original red silk threads and episcopal wax seal.

The reliquary is accompanied by its original ecclesiastical Authentica, dated 19 June 1886, issued at Forlì and signed by Pietro Paolo Trucchi, Bishop of Forlì, a prelate of the Papal Household and Assistant at the Pontifical Throne.

The document formally authenticates the relics and authorizes their veneration, providing important historical documentation for the ecclesiastical ensemble.

A particularly significant devotional ensemble bringing together three great representatives of early Eastern Christian asceticism and monastic spirituality, preserved together in an original 19th-century reliquary with its accompanying ecclesiastical documentation.
