This is a 19th-century devotional theca (4 cm diameter, 1.5 cm depth) containing a sacred ex ossibus relic (from the bone) of Saint Matthias the Apostle ("S. Matthiæ Ap"), who was chosen to replace Judas Iscariot. The relic is embedded on fabric under original glass, with intact seal and threads.

Part of a special set of reliquaries honoring the Twelve Apostles, this item has been carefully preserved for devotional use.
