Bronze Reliquary with the Sacred Relic of St. George the Great Martyr and Soldier, with Episcopal Authentication, 1852

An exceptional and venerable reliquary, housing a significant relic ex ossibus (from the bones) of St. George the Great Martyr and Soldier, one of the most revered saints of Christendom, celebrated as the valiant warrior of faith and the vanquisher of evil.

The relic is enshrined within a finely crafted oval reliquary of gilded bronze, measuring 7 × 5.5 cm. It rests upon a violet silk ground, framed with delicate gilt ornamentation, and identified by its original manuscript label S. Georgii M. M. (Sancti Georgii Magni Martyris). The reverse of the reliquary is secured by red silk threads and the intact episcopal wax seal, attesting to its authenticity.

Accompanied by its original episcopal authentication document, issued in 1852 by Philippus Fratellini, Bishop of Viterbo and Tuscania, confirming the sacred provenance of this relic.
